How Solar Works

Solar PV panels installed on roofs generate clean electricity by converting the energy in sunlight. This conversion takes place within modules that make up the solar panels. The electricity generated by solar panels is direct current (DC),The inverter then converts the DC electricity into AC electricity suitable for household needs, extra electricity is then credited on grid.

Your solar inverter will provide you with information such as the amount of electricity being produced. Many quality inverters feature wired or wireless connectivity so that you can monitor the output of your system.

Once your solar system has been installed your electricity retailer will arrange for the installation of a new bi-directional meter through your Network Distributor. The new bi-directional meter will report both the incoming and outgoing electricity.

The Network distributor will arrange for a technician to come and install the new meter. This has to occur within 20 days of receiving notification from your retailer. The cost of this will be charged to you through your electricity retailer.

The Network distributor informs your electricity retailer once meter has been installed and your electricity retailer will make the appropriate changes to your electricity account.
